A Bit About Me

Nurturing Care

After going through three pregnancies, I felt this amazing empowerment and connection with my body and my child. The experience was intense and overwhelming, but awesome, and I was grateful to have my own doula (my sister) there to nurture  and keep me balanced throughout the process. I felt then that it was my calling to become a doula. The word “doula” is an ancient Greek word meaning ‘woman caregiver’, and in my practice I offer support to women and their families.

I know from personal experience the many challenges new mothers face as I am an experienced mother of three. I am a Doula in training, have had many years of Nannying experience both internationally and locally, am a qualified Primary School teacher and teacher aide for special needs children. Through these different modes of care I have developed a flexible and adaptable approach to cater for each person's needs.
I genuinely care for both the mother and child's wellbeing and want to share that with you and your family during this special, and yet challenging, phase of life.

Testimonials

"Rachel is amazing! When I needed encouragement, she was inspiring and enthusiastic. When I needed support, she was caring and empathetic. She washed dishes, hung laundry, vacuumed, and cuddled the baby so I could drink a cup of tea while it was still hot - but more importantly, she listened and empathised, letting me know that I was not crazy as my hormones and emotions fluctuated! Rachel has a knack for providing exactly what is needed, in the right way and at the right time. With her help, I felt empowered rather than overwhelmed. Before and after my baby’s birth, Rachel was there when I needed a helping hand, a friend to talk to, or a coach to tell me I was doing well (and help me to do even better). I wish every mum-to-be and new mum could have a Rachel, and I am so glad she was part of my team. "
